Harnessing Natural Growth Factors

Both PRP and PRF facials are a branch of regenerative treatments offered at Rénove Medical Spa. These are aesthetic treatments that rely on the natural growth factors in our blood cells, harnessing and amplifying them to heal damaged tissue.

As part of your PRF or PRP facial procedure, a small amount of your blood will be extracted and spun in a centrifuge to separate platelet-rich fibrin or plasma. Depending on the speed at which the centrifuge spins, either PRP or PRF will be extracted. Then this serum is injected with a microneedling device at the target area that you’ve chosen for treatment.

Factors such as low downtime, the quick nature of the procedures, and visible results have made these treatments popular for aesthetic purposes. Owing to the use of the patient’s own blood, this procedure is also casually referred to as the ”vampire” facial procedure.

PRP/PRF: Key Differences

Basis

  • Centrifuge Speed

  • Additives

  • Growth Factors Release Speed

  • Target Areas

PRP

  • High speed that separates platelets faster

  • PRP may include anticoagulants

  • Immediate release with short-lived benefits

  • Great for treating skin and hair

PRF

  • Lower speed that preserves fibrin, WBCs, and platelets

  • PRF is 100% natural with no additives

  • Gradual release with prolonged benefits

  • Focused benefits for under-eye area and sagging skin

Benefits of a PRP/PRF Facial

Both PRP and PRF facials are face enhancement procedures that are commonly requested for the following benefits:

  • Minimizing lines and wrinkles
  • Smoothing out scars from wounds or acne
  • Tightening skin on the jawline, face, and décolleté
  • Decreasing the appearance of age spots or sun damage
  • Resolving crow’s feet, smile lines, and frown lines

Undergoing a PRP or PRF facial treatment can even help reduce the size of your pores while smoothing out your overall skin tone and texture.

Step 1: Blood Draw

Both PRF and PRP facials have similar procedures. Each of these processes begins with a simple blood draw. Your blood is processed in a centrifuge, which rapidly spins your blood specimen and forces plasma and platelets to become separated. This is your platelet-rich plasma (PRP). For PRF procedures, your face is injected with platelet-rich fibrins.

Each of those blood platelets has growth factors attached. These specialized components stimulate cell signaling involved in healing, cell growth and turnover, and tissue development. Because platelets and growth factors are separated out in high concentrations during the PRP process, they become highly beneficial for anti-aging and skin healing purposes.

Step 2: Injecting PRP/PRF

The next step in the vampire facial procedure involves gliding a specialized microneedling tool known as a dermaroller over your skin and applying your PRP or PRF directly to your face or scalp. This dermaroller, which has dozens of tiny needles, gently punctures your skin and allows the PRP or PRF to penetrate into your skin’s superficial layers.

At the same time, because the PRP microneedling process creates hundreds of micro wounds, blood flow increases to your skin and starts building up new tissues from the deepest layers. As your skin heals from the PRP/PRF injection, all of those new tissues, including collagen, start replacing any older, damaged tissues.

PRF EZ Gel: Changing the Game

PRF EZ Gel is a cutting-edge treatment that offers a unique twist on the traditional PRF procedure for your face. When the PRF extract is heated, it develops a gel-like consistency that’s ideal for adding volume and contour to your facial features.

Since it still retains its regenerative properties, this makes PRF EZ Gel the preferred choice for under-eye rejuvenation treatments and subtle volume enhancement. In fact, EZ gel before and after comparisons show a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance with subtle enhancements that are tastefully minimal.

Benefits of PRF EZ Gel

  • EZ Gel combines the regenerative power of PRF with the volumizing effects of a gel filler.
  • EZ Gel is 100% biocompatible which reduces the risk of allergic reactions.
  • You can expect to see long-lasting results due to its natural fibrin matrix.

FAQs

Is a PRP/PRF facial painful?

You may experience a mild stinging sensation during microneedling, but these minor sensations are generally well-tolerated. However, to ensure maximum comfort during your procedure, a mild numbing cream or anesthetic is available should you require it.

What is the downtime after a PRP/PRF facial?

While you’ll notice some slight swelling and redness for the first few days after your vampire facial procedure, this is completely normal as it takes some time for your skin to heal after the treatment.

How soon will I see the results of my PRP facial procedure?

Dr. Naqvi usually finds that it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to begin noticing results from your PRP facial, with optimal results showing after about 6 to 12 weeks. Even though the results are long-lasting — up to 12 months or more — Dr. Naqvi encourages you to stay one step ahead of the effects of aging with maintenance sessions. Annual PRP facials are encouraged. You can book your anti-aging facial at Rénove Med Spa today. Become a member for discounts on these and other great treatments.
